The African American Students Organization (AASO)
The African American Students Organization (AASO) celebrates and explores the Black experience through educational, cultural, and recreational programming for the Buffalo State University community.
Founded in 1967, AASO began as the Afro-American Society and later became the Black Liberation Front Board, playing a key role in securing funding from the United Students Government and supporting the creation of the African-American Studies Department. In 1979, it adopted its current name and continues its legacy as a leading campus organization.

Black Active Minds (BAM)
Founded in 1991 at Buffalo State University, Black Active Minds (BAM) is committed to promoting wellness and building meaningful community connections among all individuals. The organization seeks to foster unity while encouraging the principles of self-awareness, self-determination, collective work, and responsibility.
Through educational programming and campus events, Black Active Minds works to expand awareness and dialogue around important life issues and shared experiences. The organization also provides a supportive space for engagement and connection.
The International Students Organization (ISO)
The International Student Organization (ISO) fosters a welcoming and inclusive community that supports international students throughout their academic journey. The organization promotes cross-cultural understanding while providing resources and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Through events and programming held throughout the year, ISO encourages cultural exchange, connection, and belonging, helping students build meaningful relationships and lasting experiences. As one of the longest-standing organizations on campus, ISO continues to honor its legacy while welcoming new members to its community.
The Pan African Students Organization (PASO)
The Pan African Students Organization (PASO) educates students about African culture, history, traditions, and contemporary political issues while promoting awareness of challenges across the African continent. The organization fosters connections within the African diaspora, supports engagement with African communities, and amplifies the voices of African students at Buffalo State University.
Through educational, cultural, and social programming, PASO hosts discussions, workshops, and intercultural events that encourage learning and cross-cultural understanding. Signature events include the Mr. and Mrs. Ankobia Pageant, soccer tournament, cultural showcase, Mr. and Mrs. Afrobeats, and the PASO BSC Awards.
