Advocacy
Championed many important student causes throughout the year
- Advocated to keep academic buildings open throughout the day
- Day Against Racial Injustice, 9/18/25
- Suicide Prevention Tabling, 9/23/25
- Pushed to fast-track snow removal on campus during January winter storm
- Got the Add/Drop deadline extended to account for lost days due to cancelled classes
- President Smith and Senator Martin spoke at the 3/10/26 UUP Rally
- Passed a resolution calling for the suspension of classes during Bengal Pause
- Working with campus administrators in the hopes of supporting future transportation programs for students
- President Smith and Vice President Sanchez attended SUNY SA for USG’s first time since 2024

Broke the mold of traditional USG events with many new innovative and collaborative events

- Casino Night, 4/29/26: 621 attendees – Previous record: 144

Membership
The previous legislature struggled with membership and USG began 25-26 with just 1 member
- Grew to a team of 12 members before the beginning of the academic year
- Swore in a total of 33 new members during the year
- Finished the year with a team of 14 Senators and 9 Executive Board members
- Appointed two new advisors, Thomas Trzepkowski and Alexandra Green
- Recognized two new organizations: Queer Students United, Bangladeshi Students Association
Campus Relationships
Took deliberate steps to improve USG’s many weakened campus relations
- Collaborated with 19 different organizations (12 USG, 7 Non-USG)
- Participated in 10 different Collaboratory events
- Mended relationships with campus administrators
- Executive board invited to dinner at President’s Residence for first time
- Collaborated with 8 different campus programs
- ACE, The Anthropology Department, EOP, Honors Program, Milligan's Food Pantry, SLE, WADE, Weigel Health Center
- President Smith attended 20 organization events hosted by 15 different organizations
New Spring Fest
Previous Spring Fests were highly costly with incredibly low attendance; made fiscally and logically sensible decisions to improve the event
- Replaced the annual Spring Fest Concert with a Casino Night
- Reduced costs for event by 75% from 2025 -- (40k to 10k)
- Increased attendance 431% from 2025 -- (144 to 621)
- Biggest Carnival ever by doubling number of rides, games, and food options
- Lost the first two hours to a rain delay and still managed 1,000 attendees
Constitutional Amendments
Modernized the USG constitution to increase USG’s campus-wide accountability
- Founded new University Connection Committee to do more outreach with students
- Mandated that the USG President attend three USG organization events per month
- Formally documented a transparent budgeting process for Organizations
- Modernized the USG recognition process
Outreach
The 49th purposefully put themselves out there to interact with more of the broader campus community
