USG Phones Temporarily Disconnected

  • As of Thursday, October 9th, 2025...

Buffalo State's campus phone carrier is discontinuing p-phone service, and as a result, all affected phone lines have been temporarily disconnected until further notice. Please reach out via email with any questions, comments, or concerns!

There are about 200 phone lines not currently operating as Verizon is upgrading the campus phone system.

Cabinet members have identified critical numbers to campus operations, health and safety, and student services. These numbers, if found not to be operational, are being prioritized as part of the ongoing work.

A timeline for completion of the upgrade is not available. IT will send an update next week with additional information. Please email questions to telecomm@buffalostate.edu.

An estimated 100 phone lines on campus are not fully functional as Verizon continues its upgrade to the phone system. Our IT team is continuing work with Verizon on resolving the remaining issues and getting new phones deployed. We have requested additional manpower from Verizon on site to move the process along at a faster pace.

If your phone does not have a dial tone, please open a ticket if you have not already done so. IT is maintaining a list of phone lines with issues reported and following up with Verizon on each of these lines. For the remaining impacted lines, it is recommended voice mail is monitored from another phone by calling (716) 878-3232 and entering the 10-digit phone number and PIN.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience and understanding. Please email questions to telecomm@buffalostate.edu.
